3Industry Tech OutlookMARCH 2022IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCESThe last two years put immersive technologies on the high-speed growth path. They were required to bridge the unprecedented voids between people caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. We saw a fantastic adoption rate of AR shopping, VR entertainment, and im-mersive learning. People of all ages found meaningful experiences in the virtual world and tended to fight off the negative impacts of isolation caused by stay-at-home mandates. As work from home appears to be here to stay, businesses are looking for ways of creating significant interactions between team members. Multiple remote workers have complained of isolation and the negative consequences of a lack of human interactions with colleagues. By implementing VR communication and collaboration tools, companies hope to give their employees the sense of being together in the same space.Social shopping plus augmented reality makes one of the best blends. Metaverse has the potential to become a world in its rights, where individuals and busi-nesses interact through virtual avatars. You may already have experienced and utilized machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) technology that AR/VR developers use in their applications. If you've ever used a filter in social media, you've experienced it! The opportunities for this technology extend far beyond social media, with the ability for machines to understand what a camera is capturing. So much has changed over the past few years and nowhere more than in technology, with nearly every facet of tech-nology (and our lives) impacted by recent events. Two of the most exciting and thriving technologies to continue watching in 2022 are AR and VR.2022 is just the beginning of what's to come for this exciting and fast-paced vertical.
