COVER STORYean M. Cahill, the President & CEO of True Sky Federal Credit, has transformed the company with his innovation and passion. He saw what True Sky could become when he took the reins in 2018, and since then, has doubled the company's asset size, number of branches, and geographic reach, as well as moving them from a credit union that had the technology to a Technology Company with Purpose. His drive to improve the experience for his members and employees has been incredible. Every decision is looked at through the lens of how he can improve the lives of those around him, not just through financial means. He has implemented countless community programs, launched a Foundation to serve those in need further, and has one of the most wide-reaching and comprehensive benefit programs for his employees in Oklahoma. Sean constantly strives to be innovative in his approach. He has even created an Innovation Department and invested in infrastructure to define the art of the possible. He has partnered with local universities to create synergy on innovation and even created stage 1 and 2 incubators to help support entrepreneurs, particularly women leaders. The pioneering leader believes in always hiring leaders smarter than him and being guided by recommendations. One example is Alex Michaud, his Chief Information Officer. Alex was a star from day one, a brilliant leader who has transformed hospital infrastructure worldwide. Even though he had no financial services experience, everything Alex touched was made stronger inside the organization. He trusted Alex to lead a significant core conversion in the credit union that touched almost thirty technical systems. He also trusted Alex to lead the company's first merger conversion, which came off without a hitch. Alex is a Master of Technology strategy and the company's Digital Strategy architect. Sean claims he is one of the most innovative leaders he has ever worked with, and True Sky would not be where they are today without him.Taking Everyone Towards SuccessSean has been in the financial industry, leading banks and credit unions, for almost thirty years. During this time, he has worked at large and small institutions, gaining valuable experience from "being on the ground" to strategically developing multi-billion-dollar shops alongside getting motivation from his role models. Sean's role model, first and foremost, is his wife and soul mate, Melissa. He looks at her as his north star. Her brilliance in the financial and business world and her heart in always living a life of service guide him daily. He shares that he would not be where he is today without her. Another role model Sean speaks about is Terry Davidson, his Board Chairman. With almost fifty years of service to True Sky Federal Credit Union, Terry has been a tireless servant leader, with all of this time dedicated to being an unpaid volunteer. Sean speaks to his steadfast commitment to members and employees as the bedrock on which he builds the company. He has learned so much from Terry with his support and drive to be the best he can be.Sean's most extensive advice is always to do the right thing; success will flow from that. At True Sky, he did not set out to double their asset size, completely convert their technology infrastructure, or be named to the Forbes list of Best Credit Unions in the State for three years in a row, but to do the right thing for his employees, members, and community. He also believes heavily in self-reflection. He BUILDING A COMPANY WITH PURPOSESTRUE SKYFEDERAL CREDIT UNION
